La Bella Vita
Have you ever heard of the notion of GOÛT DE TERROIR (gü-d?-te-rwär)?
It is a French term, which means, “Taste of the earth”.
The French usually use this term when referring to wine making but this notion can also apply to food. Gout De Terroir is the belief of the surroundings of a farm/garden or a vineyard influences the final outcome of the food and the wine. What is in the ground, the air and what is growing around the crops are what influences the taste. This also applies to meat. If the animal is raised in a happy environment, fed an organic diet, and are kept clean you can taste it in the meat. This is often referred to as boutique meat. Happy animals make for tastier meat!
I am a firm believer in the notion of GOÛT DE TERROIR that is why I find it so important to use organic/farm fresh/local ingredients whenever possible and having no waste to throw in a landfill. I compost and give back to the earth so the earth can give back to me in the form of wholesome food full of nutrients and that taste amazing.
I am also a big believer in small, individually owned and operated businesses and the idea of keeping it small and keeping quality high. It’s about quality not quantity. The quality of food and the quality of life.
This is about my quest for more, to do more, to learn more and to live more. I am a Home Maker, a Gardener, a Chef, a Doula, and an Entrepreneur. I have had many different jobs during my career and have met many interesting people. I am starting over and writing my own rules…
Take lots of pictures
Enjoy the moment
Eat fabulous food
Come along for this journey I’m about to embark on and lets see where it takes us…
I love my friends, I love food, and I love wine, hence the name
Friends, Food, Wine
The three must go together. Food is just nutritional sustenance by itself. Wine is just a medicinal drink by itself. Friends are just good people you can count on. The three together is the heart of life… la bella vita (the beautiful life).
